Cystectomies

A cystectomy is the surgical treatment for the surgical removal of cysts that develop around the roots of the teeth and elsewhere in the jaws. They may have a varied etiology and the cyst is usually removed under local anesthesia, with no pain. Their removal should be carried out by a qualified surgeon or oral and maxillofacial surgeon, as there are important anatomical elements (vessels, nerves) within the jaws that need to be protected. Healing is quick if the patient follows the doctor’s postoperative instructions. Sometimes a histological examination of the cyst is required to confirm its origin
