Whitening

This is a specialized technique through which pigments are removed from teeth in order to provide a bright white smile. The materials used by dentists are safe and do not interfere with the structure of the tooth but only its colour. Whitening can only be performed on natural teeth. This method does not whiten porcelain veneers, crowns, or resins.

The methods for whitening are:

  1. Whitening at the dental practice
At the Dental Pearls dental centre, whitening can be performed by the dentist, under special safety regulations, within 45 minutes, with the use of the innovative Zoom whitening light, or by laser. The procedure begins with the careful isolation of the soft tissue (gums) so that they do not come into contact with the whitening material. Subsequently, the material is placed on the teeth and renewed every 15 minutes. Usually three cycles (three whitening material renewals) are performed.
  2. Whitening at home.
This is carried out with the use of individualized whitening trays and whitening material that is of lower strength compared to the one used in the surgery, which is provided by the dentist. Under the dentist's instructions, the material is placed in the trays, which must remain in the mouth for 1-2 hours a day for 7-15 days.
  3. A combination of both aforementioned methods. This is the most appropriate method, offering the best results, since it provides in-depth and enduring whitening.

The result can last for many years, but it is necessary to renew it using the already prepared trays, every 12-18 months for 2-4 days at a time.
